A Dhaka Court on Tuesday sent national cricketer Arafat Sunny after conclusion of one-day remand in connection a case filed against him for allegedly demanding Tk 20 lakh as dowry from a woman, who claimed herself to be his wife.
Metropolitan Magistrate Jakir Hossain Tipu passed the order this afternoon after rejecting Sunny’s bail appeal.
Police on Sunday arrested the 30-year-old cricketer in a case under Information and Communication Technology Act 2006 from his Aminbazar house in Savar, outskirts of the capital.
The case was lodged on January 5 by a 23-year old woman of Katasur, said Mohammadpur police officer-in-charge Jamaluddin Mir.
The woman claimed that Sunny had married her in 2014 but did not give her formal recognition and threatened her by sending her photos of their intimate moments using facebook messenger, he said.
