To safeguard and uphold the independence, sovereignty and human rights in Bangladesh, a group of
community activists has recently formed an organisation in the UK naming Shoto Nagorik Committee. The formation of the organisation was declared in meeting in East London. A 27 members
committee was declared in the meeting where Maolana Rashid Ahmed was stated as the Convenor and Major (Retd.) Faruk Ahmed was declared as Member Secretary. The organisation will soon
declare a full committee. Central committee President of the organisation Professor Dr Emaj Uddin has expressed his
optimism saying that formation of this organisation will play a significant role in order to uphold the development and safeguarding democracy in Bangladesh.
Former Lecturer of Dhaka University Dr Hasanat M Hossain presided over the meeting and Major (Retd.) Faruk Ahmed conducted it.
